So long 2018

2018 –

What kind of blogger would I be if I didn’t recap the year? Probably not a very good one. So here comes the obligatory year end post. Phew, and what a year it has been. We started off by adding a second dog. We are a rescue family with a pension for pitbulls. Apparently white and black spotted ones as we now have two of them. I call them my cow dogs. I am sure they will make their blog debut soon, as they love to keep me company while I smith. Except when I start my acetylene torch. The big one is a big ole baby and goes running when I light it. But we love him just the same. In the beginning of the year I had just started really working with silver. Before that I had mostly been electroforming with copper and raw gems. While I still work in copper, I’ve always known silver is what I really wanted to be working with. I can’t explain it, I just knew that’s where I needed to be. Where I wanted to be. Working with silver and the torch gives me a sense of accomplishment. It’s my happy place. I find myself getting crabby, antsy, frustrated when I don’t get the time to smith. Watching the design come together step by step. I swear when I get the stone in its home and begin the process of setting it I find myself holding my breath. I don’t even know I do it until I exhale with all my body. I feel the nervous energy leaving my body and excitement taking its place. It’s certainly not the last step but it’s my favorite. I love that feeling. It’s like the warm breeze hitting your body on the first warm spring day after a long cold winter.

I didn’t participate in too many markets this year. Instead, I focused on my photography. I worked so hard to capture the magic of each stone. I wanted you all to see what I did. And it worked. You guys saw the beauty and essence each stone possess and could imagine it in your life.  And the feedback you send after you get your new custom baby is pure happiness. This translate to a little happy dance on my end. It’s my fuel to keep creating, to add a little beauty and happiness in this world. I can’t wait to show you what is coming in 2019. If you’re on Instagram check me out. You’ll find some pictures of what’s to come. Cheers friends.
